Day 4: Life So Far... Print E-mail

Written by Daniel, on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 02:30 AM

OK, So you haven't heard from me in a while, but I did try! On Thursday, I went with Rika to the university and tried to update my blog from there, but using the Japanese keyboard was kind of difficult to do, so it took me a while, by the time I had written it the session had timed out and I lost the whole thing. I've extended the session time so that shouldn't happen again.

So anyway, I will try and recap on what I wrote in that blog as well as what has happened since then.

I went to Yokohama Wednesday night with Rika to Sogo, a big department store and looked around for a fair while, everything was kind of expensive though ($120 for a shirt I liked).

On Thursday, I went to Rika's university and went to her English teaching class. Some of the students had a practical where they had to teach English comparitives (like "stronger than") in a lesson aimed at junior high level.  They included me in a drawing exercise (mine is second from left in the photo). Then we went to a lecture at another campus, it was really boring so I took photos with the flash on in the lecture to get attention, Y'know, as you do.

That night, I went to to the Landmark Tower in Yokohama saw some sights and went right up the top (it's the tallest building in Japan and also the highest observatory. ¥1000 later and I was up the top of the tower taking photos of Yokohama and the bay.

On Friday I went exploring around Tokyo and covered Tokyo, Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Shibuya. That night I went out with Rika to a Japanese styled pub with some of her friends in Shin-Yokohama and afterwards went with the guys from Rika's English teaching class to an English pub and a nightclub in Shibuya.

Saturday was spent sleeping, the trains stop at 12:30, so if you stay out later, it's all night or you won't get home! Saturday night I went to Tanabata Matsuri, a Japanese festival in Hiratsuka.
